💦 Affirming
Nurturing the seeds we love
For this weeks musing I will start with some context. It’s been 9+years since this project started, 6+months since memberships opened up (thank you Sarah & Liba for joining, see you on the 18th) and 3+weeks since I started sharing my weekly musings (thank you Ewa, Felix & Sarah for your lovely replies, they fuel me).
This brief context is just the surface layer of a deep reservoir of curiosities, connections & countless creations that have emerged from this project. I share this because I believe the context that surrounds something is often more telling of its affirming structure than its sprouting projects. Think of the soil & root of a tree or the infrastructural & legislative dark matter of our society that shapes what is imagined, designed & built.
To elaborate a big part of what affirms me on this journey is sacred & beyond tangible, but another significant part of what has kept me going over the years is you. Your curiosity, engagement & support affirms my creations in a deep way. It acts as a nest, a scaffolding, a womb of possibilities.
For me to be affirming is a supportive & nurturing dynamic that gives life to the world we want to inhabit. It is possibly the most precious thing we can do in our times.
And in order to effectively affirm all forms of life in the times we are living in, I believe we need to create evolving entities of support that is actively adapting and leaving room for growth & transformation. In the same way you would raise a child. You don’t know exactly who the child will become but you try your best to instil compassion, care & wisdom that is adaptive to the challenges & opportunities that lay ahead.
